Sunshine Cove Master Plan

To keep up with its growing economy, the Queensland State Government developed the Maroochy City Centre Plan, defining Maroochydore as the key regional centre of the Sunshine Coast.

It's a framework to guide the city's growth and has seen infrastructure rapidly become a part of the landscape to stand up against the rising population.

The $47 million Maroochy Boulevard and Interchange paved the way for Sunshine Cove becoming an integral component of the greater Maroochydore Master Plan.

Destined to become one of the largest community developments in Australia, Sunshine Cove will cover over 106 hectares in the heart of Maroochydore and will be home to over 6,000 people, along with local and national businesses. Emporio is the northern gateway to Sunshine Cove and represents the first stage of the new community.

Once complete, the master-planned Sunshine Cove development will contain:

     •      Between 2,500 and 3,000 residences
     •      25 hectares of medium density residential blocks
     •      22 hectares of traditional residential blocks
     •      25 hectares of lakes and parkways
     •      17 hectares of open space
     •      7.25km of bikeways and pedestrian pathways
     •      42,000m2 of commercial office space
     •      36,000m2 of retail showroom
     •      14 hectares of mixed use precinct

The Sunshine Cove development has attracted big business to the area, with national retailer Harvey Norman having purchased a sizeable parcel of land along Maroochy Boulevard. Construction of the $110 million commercial development has commenced and, when complete, will feature a 8,120sq m Harvey Norman retail showroom, a 4,500sq m Domayne retail showroom and 15,000sq m of retail space for approximately 20 large format retailers.

Car dealerships including Lexus and the Garry Crick Mercedes dealership have also recently been constructed along Maroochy Boulevard, with construction of a Mazda dealership underway.
